Disaster Management Training Programme.
To get ready for the future disasters, 55 youths were trained to take necessary action on disaster situations in the country. The training programme had been organized by youth unit of NAFSO. There were around 55 youths from various districts representing the National Committee membership of the organization.
Sri Lanka Red Cross Society’s Gampaha Branch helped NAFSO providing their resource persons at this programme. The training carried out two days from 30 to 31 of January 2009 at Neela Bamma Organic Farmers Training Center which has been built for training organic farmers by NAFSO.
As a part of the disaster management training, they were trained about water safety with following contents.
Daily life and water accidents.
How to choose a safe place to swim.
Before and when swimming.
Example for swimming accidents.
After swimming.
When swimming with a group.
The participants those who successfully completed the training, will be working NAFSO as a volunteer team to face at a disaster situation.
