Asia Pacific Conference on Confronting the Food Crisis and Climate Change


The Pesticide Action Network Asia and the Pacific has hosted an international conference with the theme of “Confronting the Food crisis and climate change” and proceeded from 27th to 29th September at the Copthorne Orchid Hotel in Penang, Malaysia. The conference featured over 100 participants representing countries from Asia Pacific Region, Africa, North America and Europe.

The food crisis and the climate change are the twin issues which are interconnected and these issues should be understood very clearly to address as we are facing a severe impact on our lives in regionally and the World wide as a result of food crisis and the climate change.

World Forum of Fisher People (WFFP) was also invited as one of the participants in the programme and Mr. Herman Kumara the General Secretary of WFFP and the National Convener of National fisheries Solidarity Movement (NAFSO) represented the conference and he presented the the issue of Confronting the Food Crisis and Climate Change in the Fisheries Sector with very accurate information in the sector.
