to National Fisheries Solidarity Movement
The
National Women Federation in relation to National Fisheries Solidarity Movement
was conducted with 25 representatives of
district women committees in Batticaloa, Mulatheiw, Rathgama, Galle, Polonnaruwa and Negombo
at the secretariat of NAFSO on 21.12.2018. Miss.K.P.Padmalatha, President of the
National Women Federation welcome the participants and set the objective of the meeting.
The
minutes of previous national women federation were presented by Miss. Remalika, Vise
Secretary of women federation. President invited to the district committee
members to present the progress of the programs which were conducted in 2018. According
to the invitation, district women representatives shared their achievements weakness,
challenges and future plans. There was a discussion about the commemoration of international
women day held in Negombo last march in 2018. National Convener of NAFSO concerned
about the responsibility and leadership of the women within the existing
political context in the country. Miss. Laveena Hasanthi, National women coordinator
highlighted about the training which was conducted to developed the capacities of
100 woman in 2016 and next step of that process as well as the action that there
are taking in order to implement the SEDAW recommendations. A. Jesudasan, Coordinator
of people to peoples dialog for sustainable development, involved to clarify
the way of implementing the women committees in regional, district and national
level continually. Finally, Mr. Herman Kumara and Laveena Hasanthi facilitated
to prepare an action plan for the first quarter of 2019.
