Journalists
Training Program
A training program was conducted to train ‘Journalists’ in Sri
Lanka. The theme of the program was ‘Speaking truth to the Power’. 25
Journalists participated for the program that was held in Ecumenical Institute,
Colombo. The resource persons were, Lawyer Mr. Punchihewa, Mr Vinson Bulathsinghala
and Mr.Hashan. Mr. Hashan conducted a session on Social Media.
First session was on the current discussion on New Constitution in
Sri Lanka. The discussion of the session was on the ‘What is a constitution’
Legal aspects of the constitution, practical issues when implementing a
constitution.
The next session was on ‘How to implement Social Media to address
the current social issues’ what are the technical competencies and the creative
abilities that Media personnel should have.
Participants were then asked to get in to groups and discuss how
the current discussion on the new constitution should take to the general public.
How to develop social media method that facilitate such a discussion.
Developing a future plan and evaluate that plan.
Discussion then went on to cover How to develop a social media
method to educate people, how to evaluate and analyze such methods and what are
the new social media tools and practical application of the such methods. Deepa Subashine and Nuwan Pradeep Participated this workshop representing NAFSO
