Conference was organized at the ‘Center for Society and Religion’ in 25 April
2019 in Colombo. Colombo as the Citizen
Forum of Negombo to present the unsecured situation in the Negombo area and to
explain the difficulties experience by Muslim community, and the plight of refugees
of Pakistan, Yeman, Afganistan and Iran.
A group of refugees are in
a helpless situation in the Ahamadia Mosque in Periyamulla and the Police
station of Negombo. Another group old people have been camped in Pasyala area.
As such there about 650 people in Pasyala and about 285 people in the Periyamulla
area. To provide medicine and the food and water for these people, National
Fisheries Solidarity agreed provides Rs. 300,000.
Due to the Prevailing
situation of the country many organizations find it difficult to continue their
day to day activities therefore our organization is lending out space for the ZOA organization who work with refugees
to continue their activities.
