then addressed the UN delegates during the first day of negotiations, asking
them to negotiate a strong Global Ocean Treaty that would help protect 30% of our
global oceans by 2030. Overfishing, deep sea mining, climate
change… the oceans are under a lot of pressure and we need a
vast network of marine sanctuaries to put millions of square kilometers
off-limits to destructive industries, and help get marine life on the road to
recovery.
