The
dropped down usual life of the people due to the Corona pandemic is being
gradually rebuilt of the country. Jaffna people also were inactivated confining
into the houses because of the curfew situation but they are gradually becoming
to their normal social life following the guidance of the health expertise of
the government. The representatives of the Jaffna District Fisheries Solidarity
visited the people in the internal displaced camp in Needavan in order to explore
the existing situation and see the possibilities to assist them on 11 of May,
2020. The people in the camp have been
facing various difficulties within the pandemic period. The camp people are the
most vulnerable group in the area even before the pandemic. The representatives
of the Jaffna District Fisheries Solidarity mainly concerned the way of
enhancing the economic background of the rebuilding people after the high risk
situation of the pandemic in the meeting. It has identified and discussed about
the home garden and packing the harvest
of home garden with the value adaptation. Those are the areas that they have
concerned to improve further.
Mr.
Imbanayagam and his staff have visited the people in the Yogapuram camp to
discuss with them about the situation of restarting the normal life on 12 of
May, 2020. It has concerned the land
issues of the women and the abilities of expanding the home garden among the
people in the camp.
Mr.
K. Issadeen, District Coordinator of the Ampara District Fisheries Solidarity
and Mr. K. Kokulan, the Animator of the same organization visited their members
in Deegavapi, Kawadapitti, Ashrop Nagar and Oluvil on 12 of May, 2020. The
purpose of the visit was to meet and discuss with the members in order assess
the existing situation and explore the abilities to support them to start their
normal social life.
