According to the pandemic
situation, it was unable to conduct the steering committee meeting of National
Fisheries Solidarity Movement properly. The steering committee meeting is one
of the most important meeting of the network because every district
coordinators present with the secretariat staff in the meeting. Steering
committee meeting is used to discuss the progress of the project
implementation, take decisions, planning and implementation of the project.
Analyzing the situation, we introduced a new strategy to conduct the steering
committee meeting. It conducted online
steering committee meeting on 22 of May, 2020. Secretariat staff participated
to the online discussion being in the secretariat as a team. It conducted as
two parts because of the language concern.
It discussed with the district coordinators in the south such as Matara,
Galle, Kaluthara, Gampaha, Puttlam, Kurunegala and Polonnaruwa first. In the
evening, it discussed with the coordinators in the north and east. The coordinators from Jaffna, Killinochchi,
Mullathive, Mannar, Ampara and Betticaloa participated in the online meeting.
It basically discussed the situation of the district due to the corona pandemic
and appropriate ways to support the affected people in the district level. Mr.Herman
Kumara, National Convener of the organization and other secretariat staff
participated in the meeting.
