The schools have been closed due to the corona pandemic in the
country. The children have been kept at home almost 4 months without education.
The mentality of the children has been changed because of not keeping in touch
with books properly. The government has an attempt to keep educational
connection with children through online system and sharing lesson but it
depended on the capacity or ability of the particular teachers or schools. Child
expertise had given opinions not to give hand phone to the school children but
educational expertise advised to the parents to give a smart hand phone to the
children for the educational purpose. Some teachers attempted to keep in touch
with children sending lessons through online but those who have not a smart
phone has no chance to learn online. Considering this situation, Southern
Fisheries Organization organized a meeting with youth who are going to school
to prepare the mindset of them to engage with educational work again. Children
were encouraged to associate with books and prepare go to school again. It
emphasized the importance of the education as well. The program was held in
Ginimellagaha on 11 of June 2020.
