There
are number of inland fisherman settled based on the Hakwatunawa tank in
Polpithigama, Kurunegala. Inland fishermen were also affected due to the
pandemic. Island fishermen were limited going fishing. Although they got the
harvest, there was no market due to not having opportunity for the vendors to
come to the village. The income of the inland fishermen decreased. Corona virus
made difficulties for the families of the fisherman. Considering this
situation, Praja Sahayogitha Sansadaya provided dry-ration for 35 island
fishermen in Hakwatunawa. The event was organized at the house of Mr.R.M.Vimalarathne’s house on 16 of July 2020 with the facilitation of Mr.Ajith Rupasingha and Mr. Sangeewa Sampath, activists of the organization
