Future of Panama land struggle

People are still struggling to get their land back in Panama. Although different government comes to the power, any government did not give a proper solution for the land issue. The land of the people was captured by the Mahinada Rajapaksha’s government in the name of national security in not only Panama but also some places in the country. People were organized under “Pananmpatthu Protection Organization” in order to campaign to ensure the land rights of the people. The important feature of the struggle is that the people did not give up the campaign.  A meeting was organized to discuss the current situation and future actions toward ensure the land rights of the Panama on 20 of June 2020. Representative of the village in Raagamvela and Mr. Issadeen, District Coordinator of Ampara District Fisheries Organization participated in the meeting.
