A community meeting was held in Ragamawela village in Paanama, Ampara district to discussed and find out the difficulties that experiences by the village famers in relation to their lands. About 10 farmers attended the meeting. Mr.Priyanka costha coordinator of the Praja Abhihasha project organized this meeting with the help of Mr.Sadun Thudugala and Mr.Madusha of PARL and Mr.Rukshan of INFOR.
The farmers who attended the meeting stated that were able to protect and sustain their lives amids the Covid 19 because they were highly involved in their agriculture activities. They had sufficient food items as they had their food production produced by themselves. The farmers were involved in sustainable organic farming.
The farmers highlighted during the during meeting the necessity of having an electric fence as they were experience wild elephant attacks for their cultivation fields. They explained due to these attacks they lose considerable amount of food production. Farmers have written to the divisional secretary requesting an electric fence, however farmers have not received a proper response sofar.

Settlement of the Addalachchena land issue
Wild life department of Ampara district have been taken over the land of the Mr.Missba of the Ashrofnager, Addalachchena, Ampara district. Mr.Missba have filed a case against the wiled life department and district court have called trial several times but official of department have not attended. The district court has dismissed the case and granted the right of the land to Mr.Missba. A discussion on this regard and the land issues in the area was held in Addalachchena.
