A training workshop was held at Kandy, Digana, Charlet hotel on monitoring, evaluation and report writing on the 23 -25 September 2020. The workshop was facilitated by PALTRA, a leading training institute in Sri Lanka. 28 NAFSO district staff and the National office staff attended for this program. On the first day after the introduction session, a discussion was held to clarify the expectations of the participants and the objectives of the workshop. Reporting Manager, Mr. Gamini Thilakaratne then presented how NAFSO prepared for this workshop and the steps that have been taken in relation to the Monitoring and Reporting. He then highlighted the critical issues that were identified with regards to the reporting and monitoring at field level.
Mr.Nalaka Rosiro then presented the Bread for the World Project that NAFSO is conducting and the importance of developing a proper monitoring plan for the next three years.
Introduction to the monitoring was then held as a question and answer session. On the 2nd day a detailed discussion was held regarding the results chain with the emphasis on monitoring. This was followed by a practical exercise with the participants .This discussion was followed by a long discussion on how to prepare a monitoring plan. A number of group exercises were then held to enhance participants' understanding on developing a monitoring plan.
Final session of the workshop was held on report writing. The reporting formats that NAFSO staff are currently using were discussed and the participants and the workshop facilitators provided productive feedback to the formats and reporting methods used.
