Mannar District Fisheries Solidarity held a press briefing yesterday(07) at the Mannar Fisheries cooperative federation office and the Fisher leaders expressed their pathetic situation and how they are suffering due to COVID pandemic lockdown, curfew and due to no income as consumers reject eating fish. Fisher leaders expect immediate attention from authorities to provide assistance to SSF families and eradicate unnecessary fears of the consumers. They demand NARA and relevant parties should mediate and tell the truth to the country. Until up to that, the government should provide relief assistance for survival of fishers as A. M. Aalam the former Chairperson of Mannar district Fisheries cooperative Federation and executive member of Northern Province Fisher People’s Unity expressed at the media briefing.
