The Hakwatuna Reservoir in the historically
important village of Polpithigama in the Kurunegala District, where a large
number of fishermen meet their daily fishing needs, is now at high risk of
plastic due to the attraction of various groups of tourists. Plastic is a
factor that leads to environmental destruction that should not be released into
the environment. Today, this has severely affected the freshwater fishing
industry in the Hakwatuna Reservoir. In view of this, the Kurunegala District
Community Cooperation Forum on Wednesday, June 08, 2022 collected the discarded
plastic from the Hakwatuna Reservoir and its surroundings with the labor of the
fishermen and the general public.
දෛනික විශාල ධීවර පිරිසක් සිය මත්ස්‍ය අවශ්‍යතා සපුරා ගන්නා ඵෙතිහාසික වශයෙන් වැදගත් කුරුණෑගල දිස්ත්‍රික්කයේ පොල්පිතිගම ගම්මානයේ හක්වටුණා ජලාශය අද වන විට විවිධ පිරිස්වල සංචාරක ආකර්ශනයට නතු වීම හේතුවෙන් දැඩි ප්ලාස්ටික් අවධානමකට ලක් වී ඇත. ප්ලාස්ටික් යනු පරිසරයට මුදා නොහැරිය යුතු පරිසර විනාශයට යොමු කරන සාධයකි. අද වන විට හක්වටුණා ජලාශයේ මිරිදිය ධීවර කර්මාන්තයට ද මෙය දැඩි ලෙස බලපා ඇත. මේ තත්ත්වය සැලකිල්ලට ගෙන කුරුණෑගල දිස්ත්‍රික් ප්‍රජා සහයෝගිතා සන්සදය විසින් හක්වටුණා ජලාශයේ හා ජලාශය අවට තැනින් තැන දමා ගොස් ඇති ප්ලාස්ටික් එක් රැස් කිරීම 2022 ජුනි මස 08 වන බදාදා දින ධීවර පිරිස් හා සාමාන්‍යය ජනතාවගේ ශ්‍රම දායකත්වයෙන් සිදු කරන ලදී.
