NAFSO Sri Lanka conducted International Women's Day program at Negombo on 13th March,2024. It began with the blessings of all major religions of Buddhism, Christianity, Hinduism and Islamic religious leaders at Rukmani Devi Hall on 13th March, 2024.
Then with lightening the oil lamps of the invited guests, leaders and activists including Dr. (Mrs)Sudarshanie Fernando Pulle,(MP), Commissioner Negombo Municipal Council, OIC of Women Police of Negombo, Renuka Mathangaweera, director, Ocean University Negombo, Brito Fernando, Sugath Rajapakse and many more Civil activists.
Several speakers including Dr. Sudarshanie Fernandopulle, Herman Kumara convener of Nafso, Hilda Fernando, Raveendran Piriya, T. Darshanie, Nilanga Priyadarshanie, OIC- Women Police of Negombo, Representative of Factory Worker, Deepa Subashinie, addressed the gathering of 550 women from CSOs and the district representatives of NAFSO partners.
The beloved women leaders of NAFSO Sri Lanka movement who departed us and joined eternal life was commemorated with one minute silence and lightening lights by district coordinators of NAFSO.
Several cultural events were performed by district organizations at IWD program of NAFSO. Negombo, Galle, Kalutara organizations performed and entertained the participants. Several media captured the IWD event of this and also reported them, including Sirasa, Mojo Sri Lanka, Derana and Swarnawahinie.
